A passkey is a modern, passwordless authentication method that allows you to securely log into Spot and confirm orders using biometric authentication (Face ID, fingerprint) or a device PIN.
By default, Spot uses one click confirmations to make it simple to buy and sell memes, and this is a great, secure way of using Spot for most users. For security focuses users, opting in to passkeys add an additional layer of security which requires biometric authentication when you want to buy, ensuring that your funds will remain secure even if someone gains access to your device.
🔑 How Passkeys Work
Instead of a password, a passkey consists of a pair of cryptographic keys:
Public key (stored by the service you're logging into).
Private key (stored securely on your device, like in a secure enclave).
Authentication happens when the service verifies your private key using biometrics or a PIN—without ever exposing your secret key.
